The Camp

Come surf with us!

My child has never surfed before, is this the camp for them?

Yes!  A majority of our campers have never surfed before or only a handful of times.  Our location is the perfect spot for beginners!

Can I bring my own board and wetsuit?

Yes!  We are happy for kids to bring their own equipment if they have it.  We ask you to please write your child’s name on their wetsuit to prevent it from getting lost.  They also can bring a board if they have one.  We provide softboards for the kids to learn on but if they want to bring their own hard boards they may.

What is the ratio of students to instructors?

We have a 3:1 ratio of students to instructors.  All of our instructors are CPR/First aid certified and well trained in ocean safety.  We also have Coronado lifeguards on duty at all times at our location.

What does my child need to pack for Day Camp?

Your child should bring a backpack with:

Lunch, a water bottle, swimsuit, beach towel, sunscreen, hat, shoes or sandals.

What does a typical day at surf camp look like?

Drop off is daily between 8:30 and 9 am.  The kids are in the water from about 9 am-10:30am.  A snack break is from 10:30- 11am.  Then, the kids are back in the water from 11 -12:00pm.  Pick up is from 12-12:30pm daily.

Why can't I register my child for camp directly though BlueWave's website?

BlueWave Surf Camp works in collaboration with the City of Coronado, because of this- you will need to register your child via the City of Coronado's website linked above. If there are any questions- give Jan a call at 858-926-8161, or email
